RBF provides members with access to a full range of options which are based
on individual asset classes. The asset classes range from the low risk/low return
cash to the potential high risk/high return asset classes such as Australian
Shares and International Shares:
- RBF Cash
- RBF Fixed Interest
- RBF Property and Alternative Investments
- RBF Australian Shares
- RBF International Shares
RBF utilises a range of investment managers
for these asset class based options.
When you apportion your investment across multiple asset classes, you are
making your own asset allocation decision. Members can use their existing account
balance(s) to construct their own diversified investment portfolio. RBF is
working towards enabling members to invest their future contributions in this
way also.
Remember, you don't have to design your own portfolio to get a mix of these
asset class based options.
RBF already provides a range of options which have varying allocations to each
of the asset classes in
RBF Actively Managed,
RBF Conservative Growth,
RBF Diversified Growth and
RBF Long Term Growth.
Investment objective
You set your own investment objective and risk profile and then nominate the
percentage of your account balance(s) that you wish to allocate to each of the
asset class based options.
Designed for members who ...
Want greater control over their investments and understand the return and risk
potential of the different asset classes.
It is important to remember the benefits of diversification when setting your
investment strategy and it may be appropriate for you to obtain financial advice
on the most suitable mix of asset classes to suit your individual circumstances.
What level of risk applies to your portfolio
The risk level of the portfolio you design will be dependent upon the
percentages you allocate to the various asset class based options.
There is no certainty that last year's best performing asset class will also
be next year's winner. By asset allocating across multiple asset classes and
creating a diversified portfolio, you will enhance your potential to be invested
in the best performing assets, and dampen the impact of being invested in the
poorest performing.
Performance
The performance of the portfolio you design will be dependent upon the
percentages you allocate to the various asset class based options, and the
performance of the underlying investments in those asset classes.
If you do decide to create your own portfolio by allocation to multiple
options, RBF will not be able to provide you with one performance number that
covers your entire portfolio. Rather, you will be able to access the performance
of the various components of your portfolio.
