2. RBF PROUDLY SPONSORS MOTHERS DAY CLASSIC
RBF is proud to be sponsoring The Mothers Day Classic in Hobart at the Domain Athletics Centre, Upper Domain Rd, Hobart.
The Mothers Day Classic is a national walk/run charity event to raise money for breast cancer research and will be held nationally on Sunday 11 May in capital cities and regional areas around Australia.
Last year, the Mothers Day Classic attracted more than 50,000 participants nationwide and raised over $800,000 for its beneficiary, the National Breast Cancer Foundation. More than $3 million has been raised by the event for breast cancer research since 1998!
The Mothers Day Classic is a very special event due to its cause, as well as being a wonderful goal for those who wish to enjoy a healthier and more active lifestyle. The event provides a very supportive environment for both those diagnosed with breast cancer and their families, which no doubt includes many of our members.
There will be plenty of activities for everyone on the day, including children's face painting, jumping castles and warm-up aerobics. Each participant will also receive a commemorative medallion and Mothers Day Classic tote bag filled with products from sponsors.
The Mothers Day Classic website provides more details for those of you who would like to support the event.
3. ATO'S TIPS TO KEEP YOUR TFN SAFE
The Australian Taxation Office (ATO) is reminding people to keep their Tax File Number (TFN) safe. TFNs can be used in identity crime and it's up to us to take precautions so that perpetrators don't have access to them. TFN safety tips are published in the ATO website.
4. HOW DO YOU WANT YOUR MONEY WHEN YOU RETIRE?
You only have one chance to get it right! If you're retiring soon, here's some important information.
When you retire, you will need to fill out a form telling us how you want your money to be paid to you. Many members are not aware that once they provide RBF with their signed payment instructions, they cannot legally be changed. This is particularly true in the case of electing to start a life pension.
We want to ensure we prevent members from providing us with incorrect payment instructions, and the disappointment they face when they realise their instructions can not be changed. This is why we have a team dedicated to help you.
If you have questions when filling out your payment instructions call Shelley Song or Ian Gould on 1800 622 631.
5. INVESTMENT OUTLOOK - WHEN I'M SIXTY-FOUR
Market commentary is often provided to RBF by our various investment managers. PIMCO recently provided an interesting article - When I'm Sixty-Four.
6. VERIFY YOUR IDENTITY: WHO DO YOU THINK YOU ARE?
For a long time now you have had your identity verified when you open a bank account, fill in a loan application, or apply for a credit card. Recent legislation has updated the requirements to verify someone's identity. The legislation covers the financial services industry, including superannuation funds.
The Anti-Money Laundering and Counter-Terrorism Financing Act 2006 aims to bring Australia into line with international best practice to stop money laundering and terrorism financing.
But what will the new rules mean in relation to your super?
