SuperNews March 2009
RBF Supernews

To motivate ourselves we need a purpose. Whether it’s getting a good education with the goal of landing a decent job, saving money to buy a house, or losing some weight in order to fit into the next size down, we set ourselves a goal as motivation.

It’s the same with super. What would you like to do in retirement – travel, take up a hobby, spend more time with friends and family? Whatever your goals are for retirement, you need to get motivated now and put a plan in action to achieve them. Take control – do it for your future.

This year’s Mother’s Day Classic will be held at the Domain Athletics Centre on Sunday 10 May 2009, from 7.15 am to 12 noon.

As the sponsor of the On The Day Entries Tent, RBF is keen for our members to support this worthy cause. All profits go to the National Breast Cancer Foundation.

And even if you don’t enter the event, you can support it by donating or by showing up on the day – there are lots of activities for kids and adults!

RBF looks after our fire fighters’ super, and they look after you. So why not help them and your loved ones by ensuring your house has a working smoke alarm?

The Tasmanian Fire Service asks households to change smoke alarm batteries at the end of daylight savings – on Sunday 5th April 2009.

Remember – only working smoke alarms can save lives.

If you became sick and couldn’t work, how would you cope financially?

What about your family?

It is commonly known in the financial planning world that only 9% of the population have adequate personal income protection (both inside and outside of superannuation). When asked to rank importance of the following; your car, your house, your contents and your income, people usually say their income, yet often insure everything but.

If you became sick and were unable to work for 2-3 years you would need to rely on your insurance – and you would want to make sure you were adequately covered to make this difficult time that little bit easier.

It is often hard to work out how much cover you need. RBF can make it easy – call us on 1800 622 631 to talk to someone about your income protection.
